Isack Hadjar has defended his actions following an unwelcome encounter with a paddock guest at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver escaped a heavy sanction, receiving only a formal warning from the race stewards after appearing to push away someone who attempted to take an aggressive selfie ahead of opening practice.
The incident triggered an immediate investigation by the FIA, but the stewards ultimately let the young driver off with a warning due to several mitigating factors. In their official verdict, officials noted that the driver was reacting to an uninvited action, lacked sufficient security presence in a congested area, and faced a clear invasion of personal space without consent—a persistent issue frequently raised by drivers navigating the busy paddock.
Speaking to media including Motorsport.com following the qualifying session, Hadjar expressed satisfaction that the race officials understood his perspective. "I am, because they were right, it makes sense. I'm glad they took the right decision. I was talking to the stewards and they understood my point. So, yeah, fair play," the Frenchman remarked regarding the resolution.

Elaborating further on the boundaries within the motorsport environment, the rookie emphasized that drivers are present at circuits to perform their professional duties rather than participate in entertainment programs. "There's a limit to it, also when you're that age. When you're a kid, I'm going to take a picture. When I don't want to take a picture because you're a grown man, don't invade my space, because I'm going to work; it's not a reality show. I'm actually going to work in the garage," he stated firmly.
This sentiment echoes previous comments made by Max Verstappen, who once described the Formula 1 paddock as resembling a zoo due to the overwhelming volume of guests and VIP pass holders. Agreeing with his Red Bull teammate, Hadjar added that the overall environment needs to calm down to ensure proper working conditions for the teams.
On the competitive front, Hadjar successfully secured seventh place on the starting grid for Sunday's Grand Prix in Mexico City. He will line up two positions behind Verstappen, who dropped to fifth following a grid penalty stemming from an earlier practice collision.
