Queensland Raceway takes center stage this weekend as Supercars hosts the Ipswich Super440. The circuit, which returned last year after a four-year absence, now faces an uncertain future amid negotiations over the 2027 calendar. But before that becomes reality, all eyes are on a hotter drama—the restrictor saga that has gripped the paddock all week.
All attention is on Triple Eight Race Engineering and Will Brown. The Ford squad is at the center of controversy after their throttle body parts were deemed non-compliant. The question: does one millimeter really make a difference? The answer will be tested at a track they know intimately—and where they dominated a year ago.
Brown won Race 2 that weekend, while teammate Broc Feeney finished second, giving Triple Eight a 1-2 sweep. Kai Allen (Grove Racing), Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw TWG), and Cam Waters (Tickford Racing) were the other podium finishers in 2025. Now, with the technical issue looming, the pressure on Brown and Feeney is palpable.

Beyond the main drama, three wildcards are set to boost the grid. Bayley Hall will race with Supercheap Auto backing for Team 18, before later joining Craig Lowndes for the Ryco Enduro Cup. Matt Stone Racing also fields Aaron Seton, who returns after replacing Cameron Crick at the Townsville 500. Meanwhile, Ben Gomersall—a regular in Super2—will make his Supercars debut with Tickford Racing in a Ford Mustang.
The Ipswich Super440 runs from August 21-23. This is not just a race; it's a test for Triple Eight to prove their edge is pure skill, not a regulatory loophole. If they dominate again, speculation will fade. If not, the story will only intensify.
