The Porsche Carrera Cup Australia action at Gold Coast was brought to an early conclusion following a dramatic mid-race track break-up during the third race of the weekend. As the field circulated under safety car conditions due to a Lap 1 crash, a piece of the kerb could be seen breaking away from the second corner of the Beach Chicane, prompting officials to call an early end to the race.
With over three minutes still remaining on the timer, the race was ultimately declared while under yellow, with Harri Jones taking victory and sealing the round win in emphatic fashion. Just one lap was completed under green flag conditions, adding to an already tricky day for the category after Race 2 was shortened by rain after just three green flag laps earlier in the schedule.
The safety car was deployed when Dylan O’Keeffe made contact with Daniel Quimby at Turn 12, pitching the rookie into the inside wall and collecting Jake Santalucia in the process. O’Keeffe continued on with significant front bodywork damage, struggling for grip with leaking radiator fluid spraying from his heavily impacted machine.

The reigning champion successfully made it back to the pit lane, however Quimby and Santalucia were out on the spot, each emerging from their damaged cars unscathed. Tom Bewley came home in second position having lost the lead to Jones at the start, with Aaron Love rounding out the podium by coming home in third place.
Clay Osbourne finished fourth, with Glen Wood rounding out the top five to secure a strong points finish. David Russell crossed the line in sixth ahead of Lachlan Bloxsom, while Max Geoghegan capped off a quiet weekend by taking eighth position in the final classification.
Angelo Mouzouris finished a tough weekend in ninth after crashing in Race 1, with teammate Rodney Jane rounding out the top 10 and taking Pro-Am honours. The Porsche Carrera Cup Australia now returns for the final round of the season at the Adelaide Grand Final on November 26-29.
