The departure of Esteban Ocon from Haas was officially confirmed ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, with the American Formula 1 outfit announcing they will not retain the French driver for the 2027 season.
Without a confirmed seat secured for the future, Ocon faces the prospect of dropping off the grid for the 2027 campaign after spending two seasons racing alongside Ollie Bearman since 2025. Despite the impending exit, Haas maintains there is no animosity surrounding the decision.
Haas Team Principal Aya Komatsu spoke to the media following Free Practice in Singapore to emphasize the professional dynamic within the garage. We’re both professionals, and then what’s good for the team is what’s good for Esteban, Komatsu told Sky Sports.

Komatsu highlighted Ocon’s professionalism and commitment to collective success, referencing a specific moment in Baku where the Frenchman cooperated with team orders to assist his teammate. Esteban needs to show everyone in the world how quick he is every time he goes out there, how much of a team player he is, Komatsu added.
Looking ahead to the 2027 driver lineup, Haas is prioritizing overall consistency and feedback to handle less-than-perfect machinery. While acknowledging Ocon's exceptional raw pace when conditions suit his preference, the team boss stressed the need for a sustained, stable performance package moving forward.
