The intense battle at Mount Panorama reached a boiling point as all six official practice sessions concluded ahead of the grid-deciding shootout. This final session ends a three-all ledger between Chevrolet and Ford over the weekend, while Toyota has largely struggled to feature near the sharp end of the timing sheets.
According to Speedcafe, James Golding unleashed a blistering lap in the dying seconds of practice six. Piloting the Blanchard Racing Team Ford Mustang GT, he fired in a 2:05.2093s lap time to secure the top spot heading into the crucial Top 10 Shootout.
That late effort was enough to pip Team 18's Anton De Pasquale by just 0.1123s as the latter settled for second. Meanwhile, Erebus Motorsport's Cooper Murray rounded out the top three fastest contenders following a strong display through the latter half of the session.

Although the final practice often acts merely as a warm-up to the afternoon's high-stakes shootout, the best times failed to threaten Zach Bates' stunning benchmark of 2:03.9376s set during Friday's qualifying session.
The session experienced a bizarre moment of drama when Mark Winterbottom was forced to brake heavily for double-waved yellow flags deployed due to wandering ducks on the track. Unfortunately, Winterbottom was subsequently rear-ended from behind by James Courtney.
Rounding out the top positions, Jayden Ojeda and provisional polesitter Zach Bates completed the top five. Attention now shifts entirely to the high-pressure Top 10 Shootout scheduled to get underway at 5:05pm AEDT.
