Gasly successfully etched his name as the 109th polesitter in F1 history, an achievement that feels more valuable than just podium points. For Alpine, this result is clear proof that the upgrade package brought from Zandvoort is starting to show its teeth on a high-speed track like Monza.
Steve Nielsen, Alpine's Managing Director, admitted the team executed perfectly. "We got the gaps right, got the tows right, and the drivers didn't make a mistake. The laptime is clearly in the car," he said. This result feels even more significant given Alpine's often inconsistent performance this season.
Verstappen's Crisis and Piastri's Penalty
Verstappen could only manage sixth place after complaining about a ride-height issue on his Red Bull that affected stability on a kerb-heavy track like Monza. This situation further complicates the defending champion's title fight.
Meanwhile, Piastri, who initially finished third, had to drop to sixth after being judged to have impeded Liam Lawson in Q2. An error on his final Q3 lap also ruined the team's plan to give teammate Lando Norris a slipstream. This drama turned Piastri's sweet result into a nightmare.
