Gabriele Mini has been officially confirmed to make his maiden Formula 1 Free Practice appearance during the opening session of the 2026 Mexico City Grand Prix. The young Italian talent will take over Franco Colapinto's car to gain crucial mileage and provide valuable telemetry for the Enstone-based squad.
Mini's journey to the pinnacle of motorsport has been carefully nurtured since he joined the team's academy in 2023, showcasing consistent growth through his junior single-seater campaigns including an impressive runner-up finish in the Formula 3 championship.
Having proven his adaptability with standout performances in Formula 2, most notably scoring a podium on debut in Baku and securing race victories with MP Motorsport, Mini has firmly established himself as one of the rising stars on the international racing scene.

While he has accumulated substantial experience through previous car testing programmes throughout the year, stepping into current-generation machinery during an official Grand Prix weekend represents a major career milestone.
Expressing his excitement ahead of the outing, Mini shared his thoughts on the upcoming challenge. I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the A526 and taking part in my first ever Free Practice 1 in Formula One, he stated.
He emphasized the extensive simulator work completed at the factory alongside engineers to ensure maximum preparedness, aiming to support regular drivers like Pierre Gasly in delivering a competitive weekend for the entire team.
