Weekend proceedings for Francesco Bagnaia turned sour once again as frustration boiled over into a dramatic windscreen-smashing incident during the morning qualifying session at the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Italian rider vented his anger directly at his factory machine after narrowly avoiding a high-speed crash under heavy braking at the opening corner of the circuit.
The uncharacteristic outburst occurred while the two-time world champion was pushing hard to salvage a better lap time in the dying moments of Qualifying 2. That sudden display of raw emotion highlighted a deep-seated despondency that had been building up since the opening practice sessions, where technical hurdles severely hampered his pace.
Having to settle for a disappointing 10th place on the starting grid, Bagnaia ultimately fought his way back to finish in sixth position during the encounter. The stark contrast to his dominant form at the same venue a year prior—where he secured pole position and a sprint victory—added extra weight to his ongoing struggles with the current machinery.

Reflecting on the turbulent day, the Turinese rider admitted openly that he knows he is capable of performing at a much higher level. Analyzing the telemetry data and realizing the limitations preventing him from extracting performance has proven to be an exceptionally frustrating mental battle within the garage.
Compounding the setup woes were familiar issues regarding rear tyre degradation, which were only temporarily masked by the sudden onset of rain showers that slowed the race pace. Battling alongside competitors like Marco Bezzecchi, Bagnaia acknowledged that extensive data analysis overnight remains vital as the team searches for answers ahead of the main Grand Prix.
