Ahead of the upcoming racing weekend at the iconic Phillip Island circuit, meticulous preparations are underway for the intermediate class contenders, notably Filip Salac, who opted for a unique approach during the 2026 season break. Instead of flying back to Europe following the Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika, the Czech rider chose to recharge his physical and mental energy with a relaxing getaway in Bali, Indonesia.

During his stay on the island, the key rider for the American Racing Team enjoyed various refreshing recreational activities. Alongside members of his crew, he engaged in surfing sessions off the coast, explored underwater diving spots, and relaxed at a high-end beach club. Far from being purely a vacation, the downtime also included thoroughly analyzing previous race data through digital streaming.

Salac's campaign in the 2026 Moto2 World Championship has been marked by significant milestones, highlighted by his maiden grand prix victory at Silverstone and a hard-fought third-place finish at his home event in Brno. In total, the Kalex rider has secured an impressive tally of five podium finishes throughout the current racing calendar so far.

Despite suffering costly non-finish results at Aragon and Misano—which he noted severely hindered his push toward the upper echelons of the standings—he currently holds seventh place in the world championship. Strong mathematical prospects remain to break into the top four or even challenge for the top three, cementing his leadership role within Eitan Butbul's squad for the upcoming 2027 season.

The competitive edge held by Salac this year is further underscored by how he has consistently outperformed his more experienced teammate, Joe Roberts. With crucial flyaway rounds remaining at Phillip Island, Sepang, and Losail, the renewed focus and relaxation gained in Bali will be vital for his final championship charge.
