The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile has officially launched a global fan survey aimed at shaping the development of the next generation of touring car racing regulations. This strategic initiative is designed to gather valuable insights from enthusiasts worldwide to formulate a fresh, highly competitive, and cost-effective class that remains fully relevant to the modern motorsport landscape.

Under the prospective framework currently being evaluated, the governing body emphasizes that the upcoming regulatory era will feature machinery engineered to deliver maximum visual spectacle. The cars must remain demanding for drivers to master while consistently generating the intense, close-quarters racing action that defines top-tier touring car championships around the globe.

British Touring Car Championship legend and FIA Touring Car Commission president Alan Gow underscored the immense value of incorporating direct spectator feedback into the decision-making process for future technical rules.

"The FIA is seeking the opinions of touring car fans as it begins to consider what the next generation of FIA Touring Cars should look like," stated Alan Gow. Their input will help ensure that future cars remain relevant and popular, while most importantly maintaining or even increasing close and exciting battles alongside strict cost control.

Echoing these sentiments, FIA senior circuit sport director Marek Nawarecki stressed that the perspectives of grandstand attendees and broadcast viewers carry just as much weight as those coming from manufacturers and team principals inside the paddock.

"The future of touring car racing should be shaped not only by officials, manufacturers and teams, but also by the people who fill grandstands, watch broadcasts and follow the sport around the world," noted Marek Nawarecki. As the regulator of the sport, the FIA wants to hear directly from those fans, offering a unique opportunity to help shape the future of this spectacular form of racing.

The global consultation is open to participants worldwide without geographical restrictions, though submissions are scheduled to close strictly on October 25. TCR has served as the FIA-endorsed touring car platform since 2018 following the conclusion of the previous World Touring Car Championship era, evolving into the current TCR World Tour format officially endorsed by the governing body in 2024.
