This disappointment has fueled rumors of a less-than-ideal internal climate. According to Corriere della Sera, Hamilton reportedly requested changes to key trackside personnel, and his relationship with team principal Frederic Vasseur is said to have cooled. Gazzetta dello Sport even highlighted contrasting statements from Hamilton and Vasseur after qualifying in Madrid, where Hamilton emphasized rivals' competitiveness while Vasseur pointed to his driver's mistakes.
The Terruzzi Racconta podcast also revealed whispers from within the team. Giorgio Terruzzi stated that communication between Vasseur and the drivers is often discordant, especially with Hamilton. He called the Vasseur issue an annual topic, and Vasseur's relationship with John Elkann is reportedly non-existent. Vasseur is even nicknamed 'Napoleon' for his allegedly authoritarian and sometimes arrogant attitude. Meanwhile, Pino Allievi added that Vasseur is very close to Leclerc, while Hamilton is seen as a 'separate republic' who takes all the credit when the car is competitive.
The podcast also discussed a potential post-Vasseur scenario. Terruzzi mentioned that discussions are ongoing but without a clear Plan B. Names like Coletta, deemed inexperienced, and Christian Horner, favored by Elkann, have surfaced. However, according to Terruzzi, Horner is unlikely to take the job. Allievi added that Horner is more interested in being a manager in the style of Toto Wolff, while Andrea Stella reportedly declined.
