Ferrari and McLaren Bring Big Upgrades to Zandvoort as F1 Development War Heats Up
TO NEWS OVERVIEW
F1's development war is hotting up

The development war in Formula 1 this season is raging on. Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Ferrari and McLaren are leading the charge with substantial upgrade packages aimed at closing the gap to the front.

Ferrari has brought five updates, with a major focus on the floor of the SF-26. The Italian squad has revised the floor body, floor board, and floor edge, plus updated the diffuser and beam wing. This is a clear push to keep the pressure on Mercedes, who have been dominant this year.

Meanwhile, McLaren, fresh off their first win of the season in Hungary, are not resting on their laurels. The Woking-based team has introduced a new rear wing, a new engine cover, and revised rear brake ducts as they look to build on that momentum and climb the standings.

Mercedes, in contrast, has brought just one minor update to Zandvoort: revisions to the duct inlet and camber at the front of the W17. Red Bull is focusing on reliability improvements, shrinking the lower wishbone rearward leg cord at the front of the RB22.

Aston Martin is also arriving with big ambitions. After introducing the B-spec AMR26 in Hungary, they have brought five upgrades to the Netherlands, including modifications to the front wing, floor fences, and diffuser. The team is also set to receive a boost from Honda's brand new power unit.

Alpine leads the field with the most upgrades, having made eight changes to their 2026 challenger. These include a new floor, a reprofiled diffuser, revised bodywork, and updated geometry on the rear impact structure and rear wing.

Williams, Racing Bulls, Haas, Audi, and Cadillac have not brought any updates for this event. This situation underscores the fierce development war in F1 this season, and Zandvoort will be a proving ground for who is best prepared for the second half of the season.
