F1 Changes Wet Software After Sepang Bug Debacle

Formula 1 is set to introduce brand new wet-weather engine software for the upcoming United States Grand Prix following the dramatic aborted start debacle witnessed during the previous round. The swift technical response comes after heavy rain and software anomalies threw the starting grid into complete disarray.

According to reports from The-Race, the initial race start was delayed by a further 45 minutes after multiple cars suffered sudden power losses during the formation lap, forcing FIA officials to suspend the starting procedure and buy crucial time for a fix.

"A bug is, by definition, an error. Testing stuff better avoids errors. That's obviously what people try to do," stated senior official Nikolas Tombazis while addressing the outcome of the comprehensive technical investigation.

The root cause was traced back to cars running low engine RPM alongside a 250kW MGU-K power reduction in specific sectors. This created an unintended compounded loss from both the internal combustion engine and the electric systems, causing cars to stall or crawl to a halt.

While an interim patch deployed rapidly in Sepang will remain on standby if wet weather strikes this weekend, a thoroughly tested software evolution is slated for official release at the Circuit of the Americas to permanently mitigate any recurrence.
