Paddock speculation continues to swirl as Liam Lawson delivers standout performances for the Racing Bulls squad this season. Amid intense driver market talks and pressure from rising junior categories, the Faenza-based outfit has finally shed light on when they plan to officially announce their driver lineup for the upcoming championship.
According to Sky Sports F1 reporter Ted Kravitz on Ted’s Notebook, prevailing expectations within the paddock suggest that Red Bull will opt to retain its current driver pairing. The strong working relationship and consistent points-scoring capability have put the team in a prime position to secure fifth place in the constructors' standings. "They work well together, they score lots of points, it looks like Racing Bulls are going to finish fifth in the constructors’ and if only to reward them for scoring those points, they will be given another contract," Kravitz stated.
Despite the growing paddock consensus, Racing Bulls Team Principal Alan Permane refrained from committing to a definitive announcement date ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix. Permane emphasized that pure speed is just one factor, alongside the broader, long-term development strategy within the Red Bull driver pipeline. "It’s going to be in the coming weeks," Permane said. "We’re in no rush. I think everyone knows we’ve got two fantastic drivers. We’ve got a fantastic driver in F2 at the moment, and they’re all there and ready to go. But three doesn’t fit into two, of course, and we’re just going to take a little bit more time and make sure we get the right pairing for next year."

Lawson backed up the team's internal evaluations with a stellar weekend performance around the Marina Bay street circuit. The New Zealander carved his way through the field, finishing fifth in Saturday’s sprint race before converting his eighth-place grid slot into a solid seventh at the checkered flag on Sunday. This latest haul further solidifies his standing within the championship and underscores his vital contribution to the team's historic points tally in 2026.
When questioned after the race about whether his performance in Singapore improved his contract prospects, the Kiwi remained level-headed and focused entirely on the immediate task on track. "You tell me! It’s obviously normal at this point of the year, but right now I’m just focused on trying to score each weekend and try to keep extending," he remarked, leaving the final verdict entirely in the hands of team management.
