The dramatic decision came to light following a public disagreement between the French driver and his race engineer during Friday practice at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, exposing an increasingly strained relationship within the team.
Following Friday's volatile events, the situation prompted an urgent evening meeting between management and the driver. With relations deteriorating rapidly, Haas made the bold call to sideline Ocon for the remainder of the race weekend. Reserve driver and Toyota WEC regular Ryo Hirakawa was swiftly called upon to take over the cockpit starting from the final practice session on Saturday morning.
As French media outlets amplified unverified rumors regarding the exact nature of the friction—including sensationalist claims of a physical altercation between Ocon and team principal Ayao Komatsu—Ocon's camp issued a firm public statement to set the record straight.
"Following the recent decision from Haas F1 Team confirming that I will not be participating in this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix, I wish to formally address some media reports and speculation surrounding the situation," Ocon's official channels posted, addressing the swirling paddock rumors head-on.
"Last night, a difference in viewpoints led to a discussion with the parties involved. Whilst I acknowledge that this took place, I categorically reject any reports or allegations suggesting that any form of physical violence was used to resolve any differences of any nature," the statement clarified, firmly shutting down the physical altercation narrative.
Ocon added a strong condemnation of aggressive behavior, stating: "I strongly condemn violence in all its forms and firmly believe that disagreements should always be handled with professionalism, respect, and mutual understanding.
