Yamaha Motor has officially announced a monumental step towards sustainability by progressively replacing conventional virgin aluminum with a recycled aluminum alloy. This eco-friendly material will be implemented directly into the production of their signature DiASil cylinders, completely manufactured from aluminum.
According to reports from Motosan.es, this major transition is expected to slash carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 47,000 tons annually once the initiative is fully integrated across all applicable products and manufacturing lines. The ambitious move highlights the manufacturer's dedication to lowering supply chain emissions while strictly maintaining top-tier performance and quality standards.
The DiASil cylinder remains a proprietary engineering milestone developed by Yamaha Motor to elevate engine output and thermal efficiency. Constructed entirely from aluminum without relying on traditional iron liners or supplementary coatings, the company first introduced this revolutionary cylinder design to the global market back in 2002.

Overcoming the technical barriers of recycled materials required intensive thermodynamic calculations and rigorous bench testing. Engineers had to eliminate impurities commonly found in conventional scrap alloys to ensure the recycled metal retained identical mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and surface durability compared to virgin aluminum.
Through this groundbreaking material breakthrough, DiASil proves that cutting-edge engineering can successfully merge with aggressive environmental targets. Read our in-depth analysis on motorsport technology and industry developments right here.
