The long-awaited decision has finally landed: Jack Miller is officially out of Yamaha's MotoGP factory team. Yamaha confirmed the news, choosing not to extend the Australian rider's contract for the 2026 season.
Miller's exit was an open secret. Since joining Prima Pramac Yamaha in 2025, his performance has been far from impressive. Halfway through his second season, Miller has yet to step onto the podium. His best result remains a single top-five finish in a grand prix.
"I'd like to thank Yamaha, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, and everyone involved in the project for the opportunity we've shared since the start of the 2025 season," Miller said in an official statement. "It has been a rewarding experience to be part of a group working hard to build for the future. We've all given everything to move the project forward, and I'm proud to have played my part in that journey."
Miller also expressed confidence in his abilities. "I still believe I have more to offer and more to achieve, and I'll take that motivation with me into whatever comes next. I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my career," he added. However, before that, his focus remains on finishing the season strongly with the team.
Meanwhile, Yamaha has already lined up his replacement. Toprak Razgatlioglu is confirmed to stay through 2027, and he will be joined by Izan Guevara, who steps up from Moto2. This move signals Yamaha's intent to build its future around fresh faces.
Yamaha Racing Managing Director Paolo Pavesio paid tribute to Miller. "Jack joined Yamaha at an important stage of our MotoGP project and immediately became a valuable contributor. His technical understanding, openness with feedback, and relentless commitment helped us move forward in several areas," Pavesio said. "He approached every challenge with professionalism and enthusiasm. This same dedication was illustrated by his willingness to represent Yamaha at the Suzuka 8 Hours in addition to his MotoGP commitments."
Pramac team principal Paolo Campinoti also expressed his gratitude. "Some riders pass through a team, while others leave a lasting mark on its history, and Jack certainly belongs to the second group," he said. "We are naturally sorry that our journey together is coming to an end, but this is part of the decisions that have to be made in our sport."
Although Miller's MotoGP future is sealed, strong rumors link him to WorldSBK. It is believed that Miller will race for a Yamaha team in that championship. If true, his racing journey continues, and he will still wear the Yamaha blue—just on a different circuit.
