WRC2, Sportrik Media – Roope Korhonen leads the WRC2 standings at WRC Sweden 2026 heading into the final three special stages on Sunday. The Laukaa-born driver has controlled the rally for most of the weekend.

In second place is Teemu Suninen, returning to action after an absence of approximately one and a half years. Although the gap between the two Finns stands at 16.6 seconds, it represents a significant margin in the high-speed conditions of Rally Sweden.

“Everything has gone according to plan and we were able to extend the gap slightly. The second loop didn’t feel as good as the first. We didn’t push, we just drove cleanly. It seems to have worked,” said Roope Korhonen to Rallit.fi.

“Teemu is not too far behind, but the gap is big enough that he probably can’t pass us on pure speed. Of course, we must avoid mistakes.”

Teemu Suninen expressed satisfaction with his performance, particularly given his ongoing adaptation to a new car and tyre package.

“The afternoon loop gave me a better understanding of the car and the tyres. I began to understand how to use the tyre life cycle over shorter distances, and that’s where I found a few tenths,” Suninen explained.

“I think it’s quite demanding after a long break and without experience of this rally and these tyres. I’m fairly satisfied.”

Lauri Joona sits third overall, 47.8 seconds off the lead. Finnish dominance continues with Tuukka Kauppinen in fourth, more than one minute behind Korhonen.

The highest-placed non-Finn is Australia’s Taylor Gill in fifth, followed by Isak Reiersen and Matteo Chatillon.

With three stages remaining, Korhonen’s priority is consistency and error-free driving as he aims to secure WRC2 victory at WRC Sweden 2026.
