The World Rally Championship or WRC is gearing up for a highly anticipated era as top-tier rallying officially makes its triumphant return to Britain. Following a lengthy absence since the nation last hosted a round in Wales back in 2019, the championship calendar welcomes a brand-new debut event with Rally Scotland scheduled from 28 September to 3 October 2027.
This major milestone arrives at a remarkably opportune moment for British motorsport fans, coming right on the heels of Elfyn Evans and co-driver Scott Martin securing their first-ever career world titles. Evans proudly etched his name in history as the first British world rally champion since Richard Burns claimed the prestigious crown back in 2001.
Event organisers have already outlined the demanding six-day schedule awaiting teams and spectators in the host city of Aberdeen. The official reconnaissance will kick off on the Tuesday of rally week, followed by the crucial shakedown and ceremonial start on Thursday, before the competitive forest stages unfold intensely from Friday through Sunday.

The Event Complex Aberdeen will serve as the heartbeat of the rally, housing both the official event headquarters and the bustling service park. Competing crews will face the ultimate test of car setup and driver skill across punishing gravel forest roads situated throughout the picturesque north-east region of Scotland.
Backed heavily by local authorities with an investment package of around 7 million euros secured through a three-year agreement with WRC Promoter, the event promises to be a massive spectacle. "This is an exciting milestone with fans and teams having a clear target on 28 September 2027 in Aberdeen," stated Motorsport UK CEO Hugh Chambers.
Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Tourism and Transport, Stephen Flynn, emphasised the broader economic impact of the multi-million-pound funding. "This event will showcase to a global audience what Scotland has to offer and attract thousands of visitors from around the world," he concluded.
