The provisional WorldSBK calendar for 2027 has been unveiled, and it brings two massive surprises: the return of Valencia after a 17-year absence, and a historic debut at Shanghai, China. The announcement has thrilled fans who have been craving new circuit variations after years of European dominance.
According to a leak from FormulaPassion, the 2027 season will still feature 12 rounds, with the majority held in Europe. Phillip Island, Australia, will once again host the season opener on February 19-21. However, there's a bittersweet note: this will be WorldSBK's final appearance at Phillip Island before moving to The Bend in 2028.
After a month-long break, the action resumes at Portimao, Portugal, on March 19-21. Then comes the real shocker: Valencia will host the third round on April 2-4. The Ricardo Tormo circuit last held a WorldSBK round in 2010, and now it returns to replace Jerez, which is undergoing renovations. The comeback of Valencia certainly evokes memories for fans, especially the dramatic action at the final corner.

Other European rounds remain loyal, such as Assen (April 16-18), Aragon (May 21-23), Most (June 4-6), Misano (June 18-20), Donington Park (July 9-11), Magny-Cours (September 3-5), and Cremona (September 24-26). However, Balaton in Hungary loses its spot. In its place, the Shanghai International Circuit will host the season finale on October 29-31, marking the first time WorldSBK sets foot in China.
Shanghai, which also hosts F1 and previously held MotoGP, was chosen over the Chengdu option owned by QJMotor. This Chinese debut is expected to open new markets and boost WorldSBK's popularity in Asia.
With this calendar, WorldSBK 2027 promises a colorful season: from the roar of V-twins at Phillip Island, to the historical aura of Valencia, to the exoticism of Shanghai. Teams and riders must prepare for logistical challenges and adaptation to different tracks.
That said, the calendar is still provisional and subject to change. But one thing is certain: WorldSBK 2027 will be a season to remember.
