After a long winless streak, Will Brown is finally back on track. The Triple Eight driver secured his third consecutive podium at Ipswich, including his first race win in over 12 months.
The major change came when Brown switched to the team's spare chassis before the Ipswich Super440. Previously, he had been driving a car that turned out to have an incorrectly sized airbox restrictor for the balance of the season. After moving to the new chassis with the correct restrictor, his performance immediately improved.
Team manager Jamie Whincup confirmed that Brown will remain in the new car for the rest of the season. His old car is now the spare and will be fully stripped down for further investigation.
Despite a successful weekend at Ipswich, it wasn't without its challenges. Brown had to sit out Friday's practice session due to a gearbox issue. However, with full team support, he bounced back and showed his pace in the main race.
Triple Eight also tested their spare car at Queensland Raceway, alongside their two race entries driven by Whincup. Meanwhile, PremiAir Racing was present with three cars, shaking down their recently refurbished spare chassis.
