Wehrlein Clinches 2025-26 Formula E Title Despite Point-less Finale

Pascal Wehrlein has been crowned the 2025-26 Formula E world champion despite finishing 14th and outside the points in the London E-Prix. The Porsche driver claimed his second title, matching Jean-Eric Vergne as the only two-time champions in the all-electric series, having previously won in 2023-24.

The season finale was won by Taylor Barnard of DS Penske, who delivered a stunning performance at the ExCeL circuit. The title fight, however, was the main storyline, with Wehrlein arriving third in the standings, five points behind leader Jake Dennis and three adrift of Mitch Evans. But luck began to turn his way from the opening race of the weekend.

On Saturday, Porsche's team orders helped Wehrlein take victory in race one from pole, moving him into the championship lead with a five-point cushion over Dennis, while Evans trailed by 21 points. In Sunday's qualifying, Wehrlein secured third on the grid behind Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara. Dennis, meanwhile, started 16th and needed a miracle to keep his title hopes alive.

The final race was chaotic and incident-filled. Barnard capitalised on the mayhem to secure his maiden Formula E win, with de Vries and Mortara completing the podium for Mahindra. Evans finished fourth and briefly threatened, but his points weren't enough to overhaul Wehrlein in the standings. Dennis retired on lap 34, sealing the title for the Porsche driver.

This championship underscores Wehrlein's dominance in the Gen3 era and his consistency throughout the season. Despite the point-less finale, he made the most of crucial moments, including a key victory in race one. With two titles, Wehrlein now stands alongside Vergne, and Porsche celebrates a double that proves their car's strength this season.
