Saudi Arabia continues building its futuristic circuit in Qiddiya, and the latest video reveals stunning progress on the first corner dubbed The Blade. The massive structure, set to become the steepest climb in Formula 1 history, is nearly finished, ready to dethrone Spa's iconic Eau Rouge.
Despite the 2026 F1 calendar being reshuffled due to Middle East conflicts, including the cancellation of the Saudi Arabian GP in Jeddah, the nation's ambition for a new track remains unwavering. Formula 1 has already scheduled the 2028 Saudi Arabian GP at the Qiddiya complex, a futuristic city rising from the desert.
Aerial footage released days ago shows The Blade towering as high as a 20-story building. This corner is designed with an extreme incline, breaking the record for the highest climb on an F1 circuit, surpassing Eau Rouge-Raidillon and Austin's first turn. The concept draws inspiration from the Circuit of the Americas, but with a wilder challenge as it must be built from scratch on flat terrain.
Even more spectacular, beneath The Blade there will be a public area allowing visitors to walk directly under the F1 cars as they race above. Imagine standing 70 meters below the roar of engines—this will be the main attraction of Qiddiya Speed Park, which will also become the longest circuit on the F1 calendar.
