Taito Kato concluded the FIA Formula 3 pre-season testing in Barcelona at the top of the timesheets, securing the fastest lap during a frantic morning session for ART Grand Prix. The Japanese driver posted a stellar benchmark of 1m27.902s around the Spanish circuit, edging out a fiercely competitive field.
The morning running kicked off at a blistering pace as drivers immediately took to the asphalt. Alessandro Giusti briefly put Rodin Motorsport at the summit with a 1m29.511s before the first red flag of the day waved following an off for Dion Gowda at Turn 8.
As the track went green again, Ernesto Rivera temporarily grabbed the top spot for Campos Racing. However, Kato responded immediately to reclaim the benchmark time, leaving Rivera just 0.012 seconds adrift in second place, with Giusti rounding out the top three.

Teams spent the final hour of the morning session focusing on longer race runs. Another brief stoppage occurred when Reza Seewooruthun beached his car in the gravel at Turn 10, preventing any further improvements and cementing Kato's position at the top.
In the afternoon session, which saw an early red flag caused by Zhenrui Chi, Trident took charge. Niccolo Maccagnani topped the afternoon times, while teammates Kean Nakamura-Berta and Sebastian Wheldon helped lock out a 1-2-3 for the squad.
