Suzuki Hits 240K Hybrid Sales in Italy, 3 of 4 Cars Electrified

An impressive milestone comes from Suzuki in the Italian market. Over the past decade, the Hamamatsu-based manufacturer has recorded more than 240,000 electrified vehicle sales since 2016. This figure is not just a statistic; it is real proof that Suzuki's electrification strategy, which started with a 12V mild-hybrid technology, is now paying off handsomely.

The big step began in 2016 when Suzuki introduced its Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS), one of the first 12V hybrid solutions in the industry. The first model to feature it was the Suzuki Baleno, soon followed by the Swift, Suzuki's best-selling model with over 10 million units worldwide. Since then, Suzuki's philosophy has never wavered: delivering compact, lightweight, and efficient cars without compromising driving pleasure.

The key to Suzuki's success lies not only in its hybrid technology but also in consistency. Since 2020, Suzuki's entire lineup in Europe, including Italy, has been 100% hybrid. This bold decision has proven right, especially as market demand for eco-friendly vehicles continues to rise. Combined with the renowned AllGrip all-wheel-drive technology, Suzuki offers a complete package: fuel efficiency and light off-road capability.

In Italy, the Suzuki Swift Hybrid is the best-seller with nearly 80,000 units sold, followed by the Ignis Hybrid with over 71,000 units, the Vitara Hybrid with around 55,000 units, and the S-Cross Hybrid with almost 29,000 units. Completing the lineup, the Baleno Hybrid, Swace Hybrid, and Across Plug-in Hybrid contribute about 8,000 units. Overall, three out of four Suzuki cars sold in Italy since 2016 now feature electrified technology.

Suzuki is now ready to go further with the launch of the eVitaras, their first fully electric SUV. This marks a new era for Suzuki, not stopping at hybrids but fully embracing electric vehicles. With a strong foundation already in place, Suzuki seems poised to compete in the increasingly competitive EV market.
