Silverstone Extends British MotoGP Deal Until 2028

Silverstone has extended its agreement with MotoGP to host the British Grand Prix until at least 2028. This decision secures the future of racing at the historic circuit after intensive negotiations.

Since returning to the MotoGP calendar in 2010, Silverstone has been a consistent host, only missing one edition in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With this extension, 2028 will be the 18th Grand Prix at the circuit since its return, cementing its status as a British motorsport icon.

Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle emphasized that this extension is a testament to the commitment to two-wheel racing. "It's not just about signing a contract; it's about reaffirming our vision," he said. He also highlighted Silverstone's capability to host world-class motorsport events, from MotoGP to Formula 1 and the FIA World Endurance Championship.

On the other side, Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Group, called the UK a key market with a rich motorcycle racing heritage. "Since returning to Silverstone in 2015, we have built a strong partnership," he stated. He also noted that eleven different winners in the last eleven Grands Prix hosted at the circuit is a testament to the quality and competitiveness of racing.

The contract extension provides certainty for fans, teams, and sponsors. With a long-term commitment, investment in infrastructure and fan experience is expected to continue to grow. For MotoGP, this is a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the UK, one of the largest markets in Europe.
