The intense battle for the MotoGP world championship has entered a crucial phase. Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola spoke candidly about his team's internal dynamics during a joint press conference alongside Ducati Corse General Director Gigi Dall'Igna ahead of the race weekend. The meeting between the two Italian manufacturer bosses highlighted how the Noale squad is attempting to break the established dominance in the premier class.
To date, Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi still hold equal mathematical chances in the title hunt. Massimo Rivola emphasized that as long as the opportunity remains open for both, they are free to race fairly on the track. However, internal strategies are certainly prepared if the championship situation narrows down to just one rider.
“Marco and Jorge do not have the experience of Marquez, but they are both very fast, are in good shape, and arithmetic allows each of them to fight for the title,” Massimo Rivola stated. He firmly added, “If one of them should find themselves out of the fight then they will have to help the other. Anyway, having an expanded contest is positive for the sport and for the championship.”

Facing the formidable combination of Ducati and Marc Marquez is acknowledged by Aprilia as this season's greatest challenge. Massimo Rivola acknowledged that defeating the multi-time world champion requires extraordinary mental and physical endurance. Nevertheless, Aprilia's success in matching their pace on several occasions is solid proof that the motorcycle development in Noale is on the right track.
Aside from discussing the title chase, Massimo Rivola also commented on upcoming major regulatory changes and the new double qualifying format in 2027. According to him, innovation and the courage to change the racing format are badly needed to attract global fans. Regarding technical regulations on engine power limits and tires, he ensured that these conditions apply fairly to all manufacturers without favoring anyone.
