Red Bull has done it again—this time transforming its iconic RB8—the car that carried Sebastian Vettel to the 2012 world championship—into a 'train' that ran on the Madrid Metro tracks.

The stunt celebrates Formula 1's return to the Spanish capital for the first time since 1981. This weekend, the Madring circuit hosts the Spanish Grand Prix, and Red Bull wanted to mark the occasion in unforgettable fashion.

This wasn't just a static display. Red Bull's engineering team performed extensive modifications on the RB8, including replacing its original wheels with bespoke metal wheels weighing 29.8kg, designed to run on underground railway tracks. They called it a 'unique' engineering challenge—and they pulled it off.

Former F1 racer Patrick Friesacher was tasked with driving the rail-ready RB8. He traveled from the Estadio Metropolitano—home of Atletico Madrid—to the Sacedal and Chamartin depots. Lucky bystanders at the stations witnessed the rare sight.

"It was an unbelievable experience. I've been lucky enough to experience a lot with our Heritage team, but driving an F1 car on railway tracks was surreal," said Friesacher. "It's very cool to add Metro driver to the resume."

The move proves Red Bull never runs out of ideas to celebrate significant moments. They've previously showcased historic cars at iconic locations, and now Madrid gets its turn.
