Red Bull Racing has officially secured the services of Ferrari veteran Gino Rosato as a freelance consultant, effective immediately. This strategic move is designed to bolster the team's technical and operational framework in Milton Keynes, with Rosato scheduled to attend between eight and ten Grand Prix events, including his presence at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend.
Rosato brings an extensive professional pedigree, having spent nearly three decades at Maranello from the mid-1990s until 2023. His experience working closely with Michael Schumacher and his deep professional bond with Kimi Raikkonen provide significant value in terms of driver performance management and operational optimization. His recruitment is viewed as a method to inject institutional knowledge from Ferrari's most successful eras into the internal systems of the Red Bull squad.
Beyond the professional credentials, the appointment carries strategic weight due to Rosato's deep personal ties to Max Verstappen and his father, Jos. These established connections within the paddock are expected to facilitate more efficient technical and psychological communication between the team management and the lead driver, particularly during a volatile period of organizational transition.

This acquisition serves as a critical response for Red Bull following a period of significant internal turbulence that saw the exit of several cornerstone figures. The departures of Adrian Newey in 2024, along with sporting director Jonathan Wheatley, Christian Horner, and Helmut Marko, created a substantial void in technical and sporting leadership. Utilizing external consultants like Rosato is a risk-mitigation strategy to maintain operational stability while the team undergoes a comprehensive structural rebuild.
The rebuilding process is further evidenced by several other key appointments within the organization. Red Bull has recently confirmed Ben Waterhouse as the new chief performance and design engineer, while Andrea Landi has stepped into the role of head of performance. This realignment aims to reintegrate the workflow between the design department and track-side execution to ensure the team remains competitive against its primary rivals.
Although Rosato is operating on a freelance basis and will not be fully integrated into the permanent team staff, his role as a consultant will focus on evaluating operational efficiency during race weekends.
