Raul Fernandez wins Silverstone MotoGP, Marquez struggles to 7th

Raul Fernandez produced a dominant performance to win the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, while Marc Marquez could only manage seventh, putting a further dent in his title hopes.

The Trackhouse Aprilia rider led from lights to flag, never looking threatened as he cruised to his second career MotoGP victory, following his win in Australia last year.

Fernandez got a clean start and immediately pulled away, while Jorge Martin struggled to disengage his ride height device at Turn 1, dropping behind Marco Bezzecchi and a fast-starting Marquez. Martin soon recovered to third.

By the end of the opening lap, Fernandez was already a second clear, and he continued to extend his lead, reaching over three seconds ahead of Bezzecchi by lap five. Martin eventually passed Bezzecchi for second on lap nine but couldn't close the gap to the leader.

With this result, Martin extends his championship lead to 31 points over teammate Bezzecchi. Marc Marquez, finishing seventh, now trails by 40 points. Ai Ogura's title challenge took a hit as he crashed on lap 10 while running seventh, leaving him 37 points adrift.

Alex Marquez was the leading Ducati in fourth, ahead of Pedro Acosta (KTM) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (VR46). Marquez finished almost 10 seconds behind the winner, a disappointing result for the Ducati camp.

The race saw several high-profile retirements, including Pecco Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini, and Alex Rins. This result reshapes the title battle, with Martin now holding a comfortable advantage.
