BIOGRAPHY

Daniel Sordo, widely known as Dani Sordo, is a Spanish professional rally driver with a long career in the World Rally Championship (WRC). Born in Torrelavega, Cantabria, on 2 May 1983, Sordo began his competitive career in junior rallying before developing into one of the leading drivers of his generation. He won the Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC) title in 2005, an achievement that paved the way for his move into the factory-supported WRC competition.

Sordo subsequently drove for Citroën and became teammates with Sébastien Loeb, before spending periods with Mini and M-Sport Ford. Since 2014, he has been part of Hyundai Motorsport's WRC programme and has developed into one of the experienced drivers relied upon for the team's manufacturers' championship strategy.

Sordo is known for his competitiveness across different rally surfaces, particularly tarmac and gravel, as well as his consistency in securing strong finishes and valuable points for his team.

During his WRC career, he has recorded three rally victories, including Rallye Deutschland in 2013 and Rally Italia Sardegna in 2019 and 2020.

He has also achieved dozens of podium finishes and hundreds of stage wins throughout his World Rally Championship career.

His best overall championship result came with third place in the WRC drivers' standings in 2008 and 2009. In the later stages of his career, Sordo has generally competed in a selected programme of rallies with Hyundai as part of the team's strategy for its third car.
