The race weekend for Oliver Bearman at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas came to a premature and frustrating end following a contentious clash on track. The early exit was compounded by a heavy time penalty handed down by the race stewards, drawing strong criticism from the young British driver regarding consistency in officiating.

Reflecting on the incident involving Pierre Gasly, the rookie admitted to being completely shocked by the severity of the punishment. In his view, the contact should have been judged strictly as a racing incident, especially when comparing the ten-second penalty to similar on-track clashes earlier in the season that went unpunished or received much lighter sanctions.

Detailing the sequence of events, Bearman explained that he enjoyed a strong start and a brilliant first lap, followed by an effective restart after the Virtual Safety Car period that allowed him to mount an attack. He attempted an inside move at Turn 13, firmly believing he had earned enough racing room to justify the overtaking attempt while driving for the Haas squad.

Despite taking to the kerbs to avoid a severe collision, contact remained unavoidable once the commitment to the corner was made without any loss of vehicle control or wheel locking. Consequently, he argued that handing down such a harsh penalty under those specific racing conditions made little sense and felt entirely disproportionate to the actual incident.

The compounding damage ultimately sealed his fate, as a minor floor scrape from the initial touch deteriorated rapidly due to persistent vibrations. By lap 26, the aerodynamic degradation became catastrophic, forcing the team to retire the car from the race and cut short what had begun as a very promising performance.
