Alex Marquez has revealed that MotoGP riders are now much more united in their stance against racing in the conflict-hit Gulf region. Although safety concerns continue to mount following escalating tensions between the US and Iran, the Qatar Grand Prix is still scheduled to take place next weekend after being postponed from its initial April slot.

Uncertainty remains thick across the region, with recent intelligence reports suggesting that America has warned various Arab nations to prepare for a severe renewal of hostilities in the coming days. Beyond immediate safety fears regarding Qatar, any sudden escalation could easily result in regional airspace closures, stranding the entire paddock and severely jeopardizing the conclusion of the racing campaign.

Faced with these severe risks, riders previously held a formal meeting in Australia to vote on whether to proceed with the Qatar round, subsequently taking their demands for safety guarantees directly to MotoGP Group chief Carlos Ezpeleta. A second crucial meeting took place on Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, while Ezpeleta traveled straight to Doha to seek official assurances from local authorities.

The overwhelming majority of the premier class grid is fundamentally opposed to traveling to Qatar under the current climate. Despite this strong resistance, the Gresini rider believes the overarching schedule will remain unchanged. "No one knows anything; I don't think anything has changed, and it looks like the GP is confirmed," Alex Marquez told media representatives, as reported by Crash.net.

The newfound solidarity among the competitors is seen as a major positive step for future rider representation. "We're much more united; maybe not 22 of us, but many of us think the same way, and that's a really good thing," he noted. Meanwhile, multi-time world champion Marc Marquez opted to dodge questions concerning the Qatar situation during the official press conference, stating he was unable to disclose details about the riders' meetings.
