Bezzecchi tops British GP Friday practice as Aprilia dominates

Marco Bezzecchi made a stunning comeback from a collarbone injury to top MotoGP British Grand Prix practice, setting a 1m56.280s lap at Silverstone on Friday (1/8/2026) and breaking the circuit record by nearly a second.

Aprilia locked out the top spots, with four of the top five riders on their bikes. Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse) finished second, Jorge Martin (Aprilia) fourth, and Ai Ogura (Trackhouse) fifth, while Fabio di Giannantonio (VR46 Ducati) split them in third.

Late-Session Drama

Ogura looked set to end the day on top after setting the first sub-1m57s lap, but Fernandez and then Bezzecchi found more time in the final minutes. Bezzecchi snatched the lead on his last lap, while Martin jumped from 17th to fourth with two quick laps.

Behind them, Marc Marquez (Ducati) was sixth, ahead of Alex Marquez (Gresini) and Joan Mir (Honda) in eighth. Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha) and Pedro Acosta (KTM), who crashed at Brooklands, rounded out the top ten.

It was a tough day for Francesco Bagnaia, who crashed late and finished 13th, forcing him through Q1. Enea Bastianini (Tech3) and Luca Marini (Honda) also missed direct Q2 entry.
