The battle for the Moto3 world championship crown has been slightly delayed after Maximo Quiles failed to secure the title early at the Motegi circuit. Arriving in the Far East with high hopes of wrapping up the championship on Honda's home soil, the points leader had to settle for a runner-up finish behind his direct title rival, David Almansa, who delivered a stellar performance throughout the Japanese Grand Prix weekend.
This second-place finish leaves the gap at the top of the standings at 127 points with just a few rounds remaining. Consequently, the championship showdown is now officially postponed to the upcoming Indonesian Grand Prix. Quiles only needs to maintain an advantage of 125 points or more after the next race to mathematically clinch the world title, a milestone that remains well within his reach given his remarkable consistency.
Meanwhile, the fight further down the rider standings continues to provide plenty of exciting action among the rising stars of the lightweight class. Valentin Perrone holds strong in eighth place with 120 points, staying ahead of his closest pursuers. Not far behind, promising Indonesian talent Veda Pratama maintains a strong presence in the top ten with 105 points aboard his Honda machine, reflecting solid development throughout the season.

Matteo Bertelle also adds depth to the midfield battle, sitting closely behind with 96 points in tenth position. Consistency in scoring crucial championship points remains the primary objective for these riders as the championship enters its final crucial stretch, highlighting the intense technical rivalry between European and Japanese manufacturers this year.
As for the constructors' championship, the battle was already settled well before the paddock arrived in Japan. Austrian manufacturer KTM officially secured the constructors' crown during the previous round in Austria, underlining their overall engineering dominance in the class throughout the ongoing 2026 racing calendar.
