Josh McErlean of M-Sport Ford has highlighted the unique characteristics of Rally Paraguay, which he says shares some traits with Estonia and Finland but with a twist. The key difference lies in the surface, which he describes as quite strange due to its clay base.

"It's still fast in places, but there are a lot of junctions and big braking zones. It's a nice rally and I'm looking forward to going back," McErlean said, noting the familiarity of pacenotes from last year.

The Irishman pointed out the unusual condition of the gravel: "The surface is quite strange with the clay base, and you can actually see the tyre marks on the gravel surface, which is very unusual and quite unique to these roads."

Last year, McErlean was running seventh after Friday's stages before a compression problem on Saturday morning forced his retirement. "There is a cleaning effect to some degree. Last year, we were quite high up on Friday until the issue. So I think it's good to go to South America with a positive mindset," he added.

His team-mate Jon Armstrong will make his debut in Paraguay, admitting he knows little about the event. "All I know is that it's quite fast in some places and there are some sharp bumps. I need to do some research," Armstrong said.
