Securing victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit was not enough to put Max Verstappen at ease, as the four-time world champion issued a stern warning regarding his team's recurring launch issues. A 30-minute weather delay forced the grid to start the sprint race on intermediate tyres, exposing once again the factory Red Bull squad's ongoing struggles to execute clean initial getaways from the grid slots.
When the lights went out, Max Verstappen immediately lost his pole position advantage due to a sluggish launch, allowing George Russell in the Mercedes to instantly snatch the lead heading into Turn 1. Although the Dutchman ultimately inherited the win after his rival spun and crashed into the pitwall on the opening lap, the underlying flaw in his starting sequence left him deeply concerned about his competitive pace.
Reflecting on his performance during a post-race interview, the reigning champion made a brutally honest confession about his machinery. Yeah, I mean, the whole year my starts have been terrible, so we need to really do something different and try to understand what our issues are, he admitted candidly to reporters in the paddock.

Highlighting the stark contrast within the corporate family, the Red Bull leader pointed out that their sister outfit, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, has regularly managed far superior launches throughout the 2026 season. Because Racing Bulls sometimes do have good starts, so we are clearly doing something wrong, and that's what we need to try and do better for sure tomorrow, he explained, emphasizing the urgent need for engineering adjustments.
Looking ahead to the traditional Grand Prix qualifying session, the threat from formidable opponents such as Lewis Hamilton driving for Ferrari is expected to intensify dramatically. As reported by Motorsport.com, the standard multi-stage qualifying format will eliminate the unpredictable variables of the sprint shootout, setting up an intense battle for pole position where any grid deficit on the narrow street layout will prove punishingly difficult to recover.
