As the Moto2 Practice session at Silverstone unfolded, the battle for direct Q2 spots took center stage. Daniel Holgado emerged fastest with a 2:01.815s lap, but the real headline was Mario Aji's impressive P8 finish.
The front-row fight was razor-thin. Senna Agius from LM-D Intact GP trailed Holgado by just 0.095s, while Manuel Gonzalez rounded out the top three, 0.272s adrift. These three, along with 11 others, secured automatic promotion to Q2.
For Mario Aji, this result is a massive step forward. The Idemitsu Honda rider clocked 2:02.590s, only 0.775s off the pace. Aji not only locked in his Q2 ticket but also finished ahead of established names like Celestino Vietti, Ivan Ortola, Alonso Lopez, and Sergio Garcia. This gives him a strong platform for qualifying.

What's even more encouraging is his consistencyโMario improved significantly from FP1, maintaining his pace within the top 10 as the session intensified. Meanwhile, Tony Arbolino missed the cut by a heartbreaking 0.007s, finishing P15 behind Collin Veijer.
With the grid shaping up for the British Grand Prix, Mario Aji has a real chance to deliver his best result of the season. Indonesian fans will be eagerly watching his qualifying run.
