Marc Marquez grabbed headlines during the Japanese Grand Prix weekend not only for his stellar pace on track but also for an unexpected pre-race ritual. The reigning MotoGP world champion caught everyone off guard at the Motegi grid by performing a series of push-ups right next to his motorcycle ahead of both the Sprint and the main Grand Prix.

Footage of the Ducati star dropping down for push-ups instantly went viral across global social media channels, generating numerous memes and questions. However, the Spaniard quickly clarified that the unusual exercise was far from a joke or a stunt for the television cameras.

Typically, MotoGP riders complete their physical warm-up routines well before leaving the pit lane for the starting grid. According to Marc Marquez, the issue lies in the excessive amount of time that elapses between that initial warm-up and the actual moment the red lights go out.

By extending his muscle activation routine all the way to the grid, the veteran rider found a practical way to keep his body fully prepared for the immense physical demands of a premier-class race. He emphasized that being physically warm prevents discomfort when the race starts.

While the internet viewed it primarily as an entertaining moment, it clearly served its purpose as a functional preparation method. Whether it directly influenced his performance or not, Marc Marquez dominated the entire weekend in Japan, taking victory on both Saturday and Sunday.
