Formula 1, Sportrik Media - Lewis Hamilton reflected on what he described as a “ridiculous” dream on social media as he prepares to begin his landmark 20th season in Formula 1 in 2026.
The Scuderia Ferrari driver is entering a historic milestone after competing in 380 of the 381 grands prix staged during his career. Across two decades in Formula 1, Hamilton has secured a record 105 race victories and matched the record of seven world championships previously held by Michael Schumacher.
The 2026 campaign follows a difficult 2025 season for the British driver. In his first year with Ferrari, Hamilton did not secure a grand prix podium, although he did win the Sprint at the Chinese Grand Prix and finished third in the shorter-format race at the Miami Grand Prix.
Throughout his lengthy career, Hamilton has also experienced what he described as “brutal lows.” One of those periods came during the 2011 season with McLaren when several off-track issues affected his performances on the circuit.
Another major setback came in 2022 when the performance of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team declined significantly. That season marked the first time Hamilton failed to win a race in Formula 1, just one year after narrowly missing out on a record eighth title to Max Verstappen during the controversial finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2021.
Ahead of this weekend’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park Circuit, Hamilton shared a post on Instagram featuring one photo from every year of his Formula 1 career.
The seven-time world champion has previously won the Australian Grand Prix twice, in 2008 and 2015. The Melbourne race will therefore mark the beginning of another chapter in Hamilton’s long Formula 1 journey as he enters his twentieth season at the top level of motorsport.
