Liam Lawson has been called up by Red Bull for this weekend's Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, replacing Isack Hadjar who suffered a wrist injury during the summer break. This marks Lawson's second promotion to the senior team after a brief stint at the start of the 2025 season before being sent back to Racing Bulls.

Despite early struggles with Red Bull, Lawson has impressed at Racing Bulls with eight top-10 finishes this season. However, extra pressure is on his shoulders for the sprint weekend at Zandvoort, and Lawson believes one thing could ease the transition: the familiarity of the power unit.

"At least the power unit is the same, so that's one thing that should hopefully help things," Lawson told media including RacingNews365. "But in terms of the car itself, they're completely different. That's going to be for sure a challenge."

With only one practice session due to the sprint format, Lawson knows the task ahead is demanding. "It's just the nature of a sprint weekend having one practice session, I'm pretty aware that it's going to be a lot to build up to," he added. "To start, it's probably going to feel very foreign. I'm sure it's going to be quite tough."

Lawson will have just 60 minutes to get up to speed before competitive sessions begin. He has adjusted his preparation accordingly. "You're just going into a lot more detail about everything. Obviously, when you've done a lot of races and you're comfortable, everything's a bit more routine. This week, it's been a lot more detailed. Focused on the differences that I'm going to feel driving the car and trying to be ready for those as well," he explained.

This return to Red Bull is a critical test for Lawson's career. Failure could jeopardize his future prospects, but with the power unit advantage and thorough preparation, he hopes to make the most of this opportunity.
