Jorge Martin Wins Silverstone MotoGP Sprint as Ducati Struggles

Jorge Martin delivered a dominant performance in the MotoGP British Grand Prix sprint at Silverstone, leading every lap from pole to take his second sprint win of the season and extend his championship lead to 17 points over Ai Ogura.

Martin got a clean start and resisted early pressure from Trackhouse Aprilia's Ogura, eventually crossing the line 1.5 seconds clear. It was his third sprint victory of 2026, further proof that he is increasingly comfortable with Aprilia's new aero package.

Behind him, Marco Bezzecchi rode through the pain of his ongoing injury recovery to take third on the sister factory Aprilia, after battling his way forward in the opening laps.

Ducati's Woes

Ducati had a day to forget. Alex Marquez was the best of the Desmosedici riders in fourth on his Gresini-run GP26, but was nearly three seconds off the podium. Marc Marquez barely held onto a point after a dramatic drop in rear grip in the closing stages.

Marquez, who was running inside the top five, was passed by Pedro Acosta, Joan Mir, and Franco Morbidelli in the final laps, finishing ninth and just 0.027s from dropping out of the points.

Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse), Iker Lecuona (Gresini), and Cal Crutchlow (LCR) all crashed out of the sprint.

The result leaves Martin firmly in control of the championship, with Ogura and Bezzecchi 17 and 27 points behind respectively, while Marc Marquez falls to fourth, 29 points adrift.
