MotoGP, Sportrik Media - Jorge Martin delivered a sensational performance to win the 2026 French MotoGP Sprint Race at Le Mans on Saturday (9/5/2026), charging from eighth on the grid for Aprilia Racing.
Martin immediately took control of the race through the opening corners with aggressive overtaking moves around the outside and inside at Turn 1. The Spanish rider then built a gap of more than one second by lap three and maintained his pace comfortably until the chequered flag.
Francesco Bagnaia, who started from pole position for the Ducati Lenovo Team, eventually secured second place after overtaking Marco Bezzecchi. The Aprilia rider completed the podium in third and continued his strong championship momentum in 2026.

Pedro Acosta finished fourth for KTM ahead of home hero Fabio Quartararo, while Joan Mir continued Honda’s improving form with sixth position.
The biggest drama came on the penultimate lap when Marc Marquez suffered a violent highside crash at Turn 13 while fighting inside the leading group. The Ducati rider was thrown heavily from the bike and was unable to continue.
Marquez was seen limping away from the accident before undergoing initial medical checks. Ducati is still awaiting further medical evaluation regarding possible injuries to his arm and leg following the heavy impact.
The result marks an important victory for Martin and Aprilia as they continue to challenge Ducati’s dominance heading into Sunday’s full-distance grand prix at Le Mans.
