The MotoGP world championship battle is heating up as Jorge Martin calls on Aprilia to keep pushing forward. The 2024 champion heads to the Mandalika circuit holding a narrow two-point advantage at the top of the standings over his closest rival, Marc Marquez.
Last weekend at Motegi, a venue where Marc Marquez and Ducati machinery have traditionally excelled, Jorge Martin successfully limited his points damage. After setting a blistering new lap record in qualifying to secure pole position, the Spaniard had to settle for second in the sprint race, which was later demoted to third after running onto the green on the final lap.
Despite that setback, Jorge Martin bounced back to finish second in Sunday's grand prix behind Marc Marquez. Even though he lost ground in both races, the major silver lining for the Noale factory was that the RS-GP26 proved highly competitive at a circuit where it historically struggled to find performance.

Now, the paddock shifts to Indonesia where Mandalika has traditionally been a strong layout for both Aprilia and Jorge Martin. This presents a prime opportunity for the future Yamaha rider to extend his championship lead once again as the season enters its crucial final stretch.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, as reported by Crash.net, Jorge Martin stated, "We leave Japan very satisfied, from a circuit that in the past hadn’t been among Aprilia’s best. The team did an exceptional job, and the double podium is an even greater testament to everyone’s commitment."
He further added, "Now we head to Indonesia, to a circuit where I’ve always felt good. However, the championship is still very tight, so we have to keep going this way, working together and improving day by day. See you in Mandalika!"
Meanwhile, teammate Marco Bezzecchi knows that consistently defeating both Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez remains his only path back into the title hunt heading towards Valencia. With six rounds remaining and a 49-point deficit to overcome, the Italian aims to capitalize on his past speed at Mandalika, where he won the sprint last year.
