Absolute dominance was once again displayed by Nicolo Bulega during the opening round of the WorldSBK weekend at the Jerez Circuit in 2026. The reigning world champion performed flawlessly from the moment the starting lights went out until crossing the finish line, securing his fourth consecutive victory of the season.
As Race 1 got underway, Bulega immediately fended off an early attack from Sam Lowes, who attempted to snatch the lead heading into the opening corners. The Italian rider maintained a consistent and untouchable race pace at the front, while the chasing pack engaged in fierce battles right from the opening laps.
Intense fighting also unfolded in the battle for the podium spots as Yari Montella fought hard to force his way into the leading group. The rider who secured this year's Independent trophy delivered a determined performance to cement his third-place standing in the overall world championship classification.

Meanwhile, Alvaro Bautista showcased an impressive recovery drive after being forced to start the race from the ninth position on the grid. Through calculated overtakes, he successfully carved his way through the field to claim fourth place at the checkered flag following a decisive move in the closing stages.
This stellar result at Jerez solidifies Bulega's remarkable milestone of 30 seasonal wins and his 50th career victory in Superbike. The intense action is scheduled to resume with the remaining races of the weekend.
