Michelin tyre performance took center stage in the MotoGP paddock following extreme degradation issues that affected several front-running riders during the Sprint Race at Motegi.
The technical complication revolved around the medium rear tyre compound experiencing severe chunking caused by overheating in the center of the tread during straight-line acceleration. Title contenders such as Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia were among those directly impacted by the blistering phenomenon.
According to Johann Zarco, modern motorcycle racing requires riders to strike a delicate balance between immediate performance and long-term pace. Riders must generate a controlled amount of rear wheel spin exiting corners to achieve competitive lap times, but excessive spinning rapidly destroys the rubber.

As reported by Crash.net, Zarco emphasized that riding technique remains the ultimate factor in managing thermal degradation. While the LCR Honda rider avoided major tyre chunking, he conceded that ongoing corner-entry issues prevented him from matching the front-runners' pace.
