The Moto2 race at Mobility Resort Motegi delivered a dramatic twist that completely reshapes the championship battle. As the grid prepared to launch, points leader Manuel Gonzalez suffered a brutal technical failure with his Kalex machine right before the lights went out, forcing him into the pit lane and costing him half a lap.
Pole-sitter Izan Guevara grabbed the opportunity with both hands, converting his prime starting spot into a dominant masterclass from lights to checkered flag. Despite relentless pressure from Tony Arbolino throughout the 19-lap encounter, the Spaniard held firm to secure a brilliant victory.
Arbolino crossed the line just 0,419 seconds behind to claim second place on the podium, with Filip Salac rounding out the top three. Further down the order, Zonta van den Goorbergh battled hard to salvage the final championship point in fifteenth position, finishing just ahead of Belgian rider Barry Baltus.
