Isack Hadjar Defends Paddock Boundaries After Mexican GP Incident

A controversial incident overshadowed Isack Hadjar's weekend at the Formula 1 round at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, leading the driver to issue a firm defense following a physical altercation in the paddock. The talented French driver insisted that the working environment of a racing team is not a reality television show after receiving a formal warning from the governing body.

The controversy ignited when social media footage captured the Red Bull Racing driver pushing away an adult male guest who attempted to take an uninvited selfie. Stewards summoned the driver on Saturday morning before practice sessions to investigate a potential breach of the International Sporting Code. Ultimately, officials issued only a formal warning after identifying five distinct mitigating factors surrounding the altercation.

According to the official statement from the stewards, the driver reacted to an uninvited and aggressive approach while navigating a heavily congested paddock area ahead of the first practice session. The absence of adequate personal security, the blatant invasion of personal space without consent, and the broader ongoing issues drivers face while transiting the paddock were all taken into account.

Addressing the media after securing seventh place on the starting grid during qualifying, Hadjar expressed satisfaction that officials acknowledged his perspective. "I am glad they took the right decision. I was talking to the stewards and they understood my point, so yes, fair play," Hadjar explained when asked about the verdict.

"There is a limit to it. When you are a kid asking for a picture, I am going to take it. When I do not want to take a picture because you are a grown man, do not invade my space, because I am going to work; it is not a reality show. I am actually going to work in the garage," he added.

The growing congestion caused by an influx of paddock guests has drawn widespread criticism across the pit lane. Earlier, teammate Max Verstappen likened the overcrowded paddock environment to a zoo, a sentiment fully endorsed by Hadjar as paddock authorities face mounting pressure to address security and accessibility.
