Honda has shaken up the motocross world again with the new-generation CRF450R for 2027. This isn't just an update; the Japanese manufacturer is launching three distinctly different variants: the Honda CRF450R for circuits, the CRF450R HRC Works Edition that brings factory-level performance, and the CRF450RX for off-road. All three share a new, more powerful engine base, but each is tailored to different needs.
The most intriguing part is that all three bikes use the same 449.5cc Unicam single-cylinder engine, yet with different tuning, equipment, and geometry. Honda claims over 10 percent more peak power and 4 percent more torque compared to the previous generation. This is no minor evolution; Honda has redesigned around 70 percent of the aluminum frame to improve traction and cornering control.
CRF450R: The Motocross Specialist
The CRF450R 2027 is the purest motocross variant. With a 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheel, fitted with Dunlop Geomax MX34 tires, this bike is built to devour circuits. The Showa 49mm USD fork and Pro-Link rear suspension deliver precise handling for tackling bumps and sharp turns.

It weighs just 108 kg ready to ride, with a seat height of 953mm. Advanced electronics like Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with three modes, HRC Launch Control, and engine maps allow riders to adapt the bike's character to track conditions. In Spain, the CRF450R is priced at i10,500.
CRF450R HRC Works Edition: Closer to a Factory Bike
For those seeking more performance, the CRF450R HRC Works Edition comes with race-ready components straight from the factory. Featuring a Yoshimura titanium exhaust, a dedicated ECU, and more aggressive suspension settings, this variant promises a more authentic racing experience. It weighs 107.9kg, just 100g lighter than standard, but the focus is on enhancing performance in the most critical areas.
At i12,700, a i2,200 premium over the standard CRF450R, the Works Edition offers added value for serious racers looking for a competitive edge.
CRF450RX: Ready to Conquer Different Terrain
The third variant, the CRF450RX, is the choice for cross-country and enduro. The most striking difference is the 18-inch rear wheel with more aggressive Dunlop Geomax AT81 tires. Suspension and electronics are recalibrated to handle varied surfaces and longer race durations.
Additional features like hand guards, a sidestand, and a larger engine guard make it ready for off-road adventures. Though weight rises slightly to 108.8kg, the bike remains agile. It's priced at i10,650, just i150 more than the CRF450R, making it an attractive option for those wanting versatility.
With these three variants, Honda clearly aims to reach three different rider segments. Whether you're a pure motocross racer, an enduro enthusiast, or looking for a factory-inspired machine, the CRF450R 2027 has an answer.
