Lewis Hamilton has spoken out. The Ferrari driver strongly denied reports in the Italian media that he had requested personnel changes. In an Instagram Story on Thursday, he insisted he has never asked for anyone to be replaced.
"I've seen some of the stories that have gone out and I want to clear it up here. I've never asked for anyone on my team to be replaced," Hamilton wrote. "Everyone I work with works hard every day, and their dedication is what moves us forward."
This statement also dismisses claims by Corriere della Sera that his relationship with Fred Vasseur has weakened. After all, Vasseur was instrumental in bringing Hamilton to Maranello. The issue emerged amid a difficult period for Ferrari, who have not had a podium since Spa in July.
The peak was the home race at Monza, where Hamilton appeared frustrated and urged the team to work together to fix operational errors. He also effectively conceded the title in Madrid after retiring with a brake issue, falling over 100 points behind points leader Kimi Antonelli.
Nevertheless, Hamilton emphasised his commitment to building, not overhauling. "I always try to empower and lift people to be the best versions of themselves. I may not always achieve that but it's my intention. We all work together and that will continue."
This statement is crucial to quell speculation that could disrupt the team's focus. Ferrari are currently fighting to recover performance, and internal stability is key. Hamilton, known for caring about team dynamics, seems intent on ensuring there is no room for division.
With the season still long, a harmonious relationship between Hamilton and Vasseur will be vital in determining the direction of car development and strategy. If left unchecked, this rumour could become a major distraction. But at least, Hamilton has firmly closed the door on speculation.
